In NewsWhistle’s weekly question-and-answer series, Clara Morgan speaks with some of her favorite people and finds out more about their lives and careers. This week, Clara speaks with Cygalle Dias, founder of Cygalle Healing Spa (CHS), a spa and skincare line.
Launched in 2006, CHS quickly gained fame by pampering celebrities such as Kate Hudson, Helena Christensen, David Blaine, and Rosario Dawson.
In November 2008, Cygalle launched a spa management division for luxury hotels and condominiums in North America, which specializes in services for wellness centers in fast-paced urban environments.
And Cygalle’s company also designed, launched, and managed the world class destination spa at Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic, voted one of the top spas in the world by Vanity Fair in 2009. The team was crucial in elevating the spa’s services and brand, to become a Leading Hotels of the World property.
Cygalle’s philosophy is to promote a natural healing environment, whether at the Casa de Campo spa or at home via her line of products.

1. When and how did you first realize that you wanted to work in the industry and business you are in?
I first realized that I was addicted to fashion and entertainment when I was in my early 20s. I noticed that I had the ability to visualize and create marketing events and branding platforms for high end companies to mingle with social influencers. This experiential marketing technique is unique and powerful, resulting in brand propulsion. My passion and purpose is to be a leader in health, beauty, lifestyle spa and skincare projects that are providing people with specialty treatments and true holistic skincare to pamper and heal.
2. Any celebrity clients or memorable stories related to your business that you want to share?
I thought it was really lovely when Kate Hudson personally addressed me and my company on the phone to tell me she enjoyed the Cygalle Healing Spa “in-villa” special massage services and the True Holistic Skincare. Kanye West signed my spa book at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic and drew a picture of an animal and said he loved the treatments and the products. Michelle Rodrigues has also visited the spa, as well as Vin Diesel when he was shooting for The Fast and The Furious movie. We have pampered and healed Kris Jenner and other high profile VIPs, including Gerard Butler, David Blaine, Stella Mc Cartney, Helena Christenson, and Rosario Dawson. They have visited my spa or one of our pop-up spas in the Hamptons, Sundance, or Cannes Film Festival, or at fashion weeks in New York and London.
3. What is a typical day like for you? And what do you like to do on a day off?
My days are busy; unexpected meetings and phone calls popping up, always on the run. Since stressful days can take a toll on your skin, it is extra important for me to have skincare essentials for cleansing, toner, moisturizer, and serum, especially in the winter season. As part of my daily regimen, I use CHS True Holistic Skincare which is food for skin and the plant extracts have healing benefits for people on the go who want glowing and youthful complexion without the chemicals. I also make sure to drink lots of water and eat healthy.
On my days off, I like to relax and escape with a bath or shower ritual with live body polish. I will also treat myself to the spa and do yoga and meditation, which I think is a great way to balance mind and body after a hectic work week.
4. What is the next big thing in your industry? What are people doing differently today, compared to 10-15 years ago?
The “IN” thing is combining holistic skincare and unique treatments for face and body with bio chemistry beauty technology to deeply penetrate the skin for maximum results which will reduce lines and wrinkles, firm, lift, restore, and repair the skin in a gentle and noninvasive technique. Also energy healing, meditation, and spiritual growth is important now to people. I prefer East meets West philosophies, rituals and treatments, and sometimes also European treatments.
5. What are your three favorite restaurants in New York?
Nobu, Cipriani, and Soho House. I love the design, service, food, and the social environment of these restaurants.
6. What are your three favorite bars in the city?
Baby Grand, Soho House, and Up and Down. Because they are intimate, with nice design and good music.
7. What are your three favorite locations to visit in NYC?
Central Park, Riverside Boulevard, and Soho. I need nature and the beauty of the parks and rivers are inspirational and great for creativity and meditation.
8. Which three events on your annual calendar will you will absolutely not miss?
Fashion Week, Shabbat and Jewish Holidays. I have a fashion and entertainment marketing background for over 20 years and I love clothes. As for the other two — I am Jewish so they are a given.
9. What was your best New York moment? Your worst?
My best moment is at fashion week with my pop-up spas and getting to work with A-list designers and pamper VIPs and the press. It is fun and exciting for me and my brand.
The worst is the cold crazy New York weather, as I prefer the vitamin D from the sunshine and salt water and sandy beaches.
10. Tell us something that people do not know about you. (And you cannot say it is a secret!)
I never give up on my dreams and I believe that positive actions, positive words, and positive thoughts in tandem with believing in yourself can result in miracles so I like to maintain a positive vibe around me.
11. How would you describe your personal (fashion) style?
My fashion style is classic, tailored and kawaii high end fashion. Mostly, my wardrobe consists of black chic and timeless items fit for a city girl, but I’m trying to incorporate more colors.
12. Who is your style icon? Where do you find your style inspiration?
Audrey Hepburn is my style icon. I have my own style, although I watch the trends and am sometimes also an influencer of new trends.
13. Who is your favorite fashion designer, artist or architect – and why?
Zac Posen is my favorite designer since he designs dresses for my body type which feel glam and look beautiful.
14. Name your favorite… and tell us why:
Black Prada skirt, crème Chloe shirt, with Erin Fetherson vintage jacket with heart/suede details. And YSL polished leather wedges.
Chanel, but I rarely use perfume since I like natural essential oils better. They are designed for each sensory journey!
The Matrix and The Devil Wears Prada are two favorites. I haven’t seen any good ones lately.
d. TV show.
Shark Tank is my favorite show at the moment. I love watching businesses get to the next level.
I don’t have a favorite.
15. What is your favorite restaurant in the world? What is it you love about it and what is your favorite dish?
Nobu is my favorite restaurant, the atmosphere is fun and I love their Shishito Peppers!
16. Name your favorite vacation spot and hotel? What makes these places so special?
Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic is my favorite vacation spot. It’s a special place to me because it is where I launched Cygalle Healing Spa. I really enjoy the tropical weather and the healing spa is outstanding.
17. Which three items can you not live without?
Food, coffee, and sleep.
18. What song, meditation, or mantra can you listen to on repeat? And why?
Buddhist mantras are helpful for bringing positive energy into my life and I really need that in New York.
19. If you could meet anyone in the world, who would you like to meet? And why?
LVMH is my favorite company and I would love to meet the distribution and investment decision maker to develop and launch True Holistic Skincare by Cygalle Healing Spa.
20. Is there anything else you would like to share, discuss or promote?
Cygalle Healing Spa is currently developing new packaging technology for the True Holistic Skincare, rebranding and exploring partnerships with new distribution channels. We are also excited to collaborate with high end hotels and resorts, which believe in a Holistic Luxury Lifestyle approach, based on the success of the first permanent spa location at Casa de Campo.
