From Prince to the King & Queen here’s what’s orbiting our musical universe this week.

Prince, “When You Were Mine”
Because how else did you expect us to open this edition of AWOP? In a world of endless Prince tracks, we’d like to pay our respects with a personal favorite from one of the greatest of all time.

Cyndi Lauper, “When You Were Mine” (Cover)
Watching Cyndi Lauper nail this cover to an already impressive track makes us wish this one was a duet.

If you like trivia, here’s Lauper explaining why she was attracted to the song:

Mitch Ryder, “When You Were Mine” (Cover)
The great Mitch Ryder does a pretty awesome job, too.

Ani DiFranco, “When You Were Mine” (Cover)
By this point you’re starting to realize how much we enjoy “When You Were Mine.” Here’s a softer rendition performed by another equally talented musician. (Side note: Shout out to the guy who interrupted the tranquility at 3:34.)

Beyoncé, Lemonade
What are the odds that Beyoncé actually had an entire 45-minute album holstered just a few days after the latest scandal surfaced that Jay-Z may have been involved with Rachel Roy?

To top it all off, Lemonade is currently limited to users of the music streaming service, Tidal, which oh-by-the-way is owned almost wholly by Hov.

At first glance, this scandal has hoax written all over it. Just a power couple making power moves. Well, spend some time out of your 90-day free trial offered by Tidal on Lemonade and you’ll soon recognize that the Queen Bee is not out to play.
