AWOPBAMBOOM – Vol. 27
Music 4 Music People

***

From Dawes to Optical Panda, here’s what’s orbiting our musical universe this week.

***

Optical Panda

Well, I managed to finally activate a Twitter account for myself and this fellow became my first follower. Here’s your reward, oh wise panda.

Follow me at @SenorJoseRafael if you’ve got tunes for us or want some good music updates.

***

Hiss Golden Messenger, “Mahogany Dread”

Formed by MC Taylor and Scott Hirsch in North Carolina in 2007, these former punkrockers found their niche in the folk music world.

***

Flying Lotus, “Coronus, The Terminator”

Visit their site at flying-lotus.com and your tab will read, “YOU’RE DEAD.” Strange, but welcome to the resurrection…

***

Bleachers

It appears Jack Antonoff, formerly of Fun, the band who brought us “We Are Young” and “Some Nights,” has moved on to future endeavors forming Bleachers, a group which has already brought us a hit in “I Wanna Get Better.”

***

MØ ft. Diplo, “XXX 88”

Also an acronym for her middle and last initials (Karen Marie Ørsted), mø also means “maiden” or “virgin” in Danish.

***

Mac DeMarco, “My Kind of Woman”

Quick! Somebody get help! This man’s found his kind of woman but he’ll never get her with that appearance.

***

Earth, Wind and Fire, “September”

I was pleasantly surprised when someone recommended this song to me and I already knew it, loved it, and jammed out to it in my car.

***

Dawes

A band of brothers!… and a few others. Taylor Goldsmith, vocalist and guitarist, Griffin Goldsmith, drummer, Wylie Gelber, bassist, and Tay Stratham, keyboard, are the musical monsters behind Dawes.

Obama Spoof

What better way to close this edition of AWOPBAMBOOM than with America’s leader singing the world’s current hit song?
