AWOPBAMBOOM – Vol. 39
Music 4 Music People

***

From reggaeton to number ones, here’s what’s orbiting our musical universe this week.

***

The Vamps

Not sure if I’m listening to One Direction or simply a doppelgänger boyband also from the UK… but I kinda like it.

***

Troye Sivan, “The Quiet”

Troye Sivan Mellet is a Jewish-born South African whose family moved to Australia by the time he was two due to rising crime rates. At age 15, he revealed his homosexuality to family and friends. Three years later, on August 7, 2013, Sivan made his 3.6 million YouTube subscribers aware of his sexual orientation through a vlog. He’s also appeared in movies Spud, Spud 2, X-Men Origins, and Betrand the Terrible. All this and Sivan is only 20-years-old.

Travis Scott, “Antidote”

After finding out her son had dropped out of college, moved to New York, and used her money to record music (among other extracurricular activities), Scott’s mother has officially been through the greatest array of emotions. Fortunately for all, the gamble paid off!

***

The Weeknd ft. Ed Sheeran, “Dark Times”

An unlikely pair, but The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran have got some chemistry here!

***

Fall Out Boy, “Uma Thurman”

Has Uma Thurman not landed the single greatest job on the face of this earth? Heck, I’d walk a zebra and test-drive Lambos for free!

***

Mark B, “Tu Eres La Vaina”

Ok, ok. So maybe we got a little mainstream on this edition of AWOP and you’re musically well-versed so you know all the aforementioned songs already, but then this whistling, catchy slice came along and now you’re enjoying life again, right?

***

Stylo G ft. Gyptian, “My Number 1”

Flip it to the other side of reggae. Here’s one to dance to with your own “number 1” brought to you by a pair of talented Jamaican artists.
