Our Top Five Movies…
With Video Game Themes

We start today’s countdown with our number five pick…

***

5. The Wizard (1989)- Fred Savage was the man back in 1990. And in this movie was the first glimpse of the long-awaited Super Mario Bros. 3. Before YouTube, before Facebook, before the internet…leaks were locked down tight. This was marketing genius.

***

4. The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007)- The best video game documentary of all-time, pitting two Donkey Kong obsessed dudes against one another to achieve the glory of the highest score ever. If only Steve Buscemi and Jack Black would agree to doing the live-action remake.

***

3. Tron (1982)- The sequel wasn’t bad either, but the original is still one of the best pure sci-fi flicks of all-time. So inventive. So fun…even if it does move at a snail’s pace sometimes.

***

2. The Last Starfighter (1984)- There’s a reason we all play video games…to escape to a different world. That’s exactly the premise of this underrated 80s classic. So, so good.

1. Wreck-It Ralph – Pure. Joy(stick). Leave it to Disney Animation to get it right, but what’s strange is the same company thought “Need for Speed” was worth making.
