AWOPBAMBOOM Vol. 73 – Songs for Fellow Travelers

From a quest to a ritual, here’s what’s orbiting our music universe this week.

Bob Weir – Ki-Yi Bossie

One of the biggest and best surprises of 2016 was listening to Bob Weir branch out into country and cowboy music. His album Blue Mountain makes for a fascinating listen, and his song Ki-Yi Bossie is raw and powerful and would make Johnny Cash proud.

Mating Ritual – How You Gonna Stop It?

Like welcoming an old friend home, you’re going to quickly embrace Mating Ritual’s new electronic ear-brightener. It’s romantic music for happy souls. What’s not to like about that?

Chick Quest – Savant Garde

Our favorite Spaghetti Western post-punk band has thrown some horns into their act – and the result is a ricochet shot: fast and bouncy and very thrilling.

Sundara Karma – Loveblood

We’ve been listening to this swirling indie gem for a while – and it works no matter the place or season. Play, drive, and repeat.

And for some ADG ABGAB fun, check out SK’s more recent pop offering “She Said.”

PARRI$ – International

There are a lot of styles at work here, but we’re definitely interested in PARRI$, who’s being touted as one of hip hop’s next big stars. Check out the New Zealander’s song “International” – you’ll see what we mean. A blend of different sounds that shouldn’t work, but you know what, between the electroclash attitude, the slick mixing, and the chiming beats, we’re hooked. Guess kitchen-sinking isn’t a bad thing after all.
