Songs For The Week

AWOPBAMBOOM Vol. 53: Music 4 Music People

From the Grateful Dead to a tragic loss, here’s what’s orbiting our musical universe this week:

***

David Bowie, Blackstar

Sunday marked the end of an 18-month battle with cancer for David Bowie, who recently released Blackstar, a seven-track, jazz-tinged album that could hit number one on the charts this week.

Our favorite tune off Blackstar is Bowie’s final track, a powerful goodbye to fans and listeners titled “I Can’t Give Everything Away.”

Carlos Vives, “Fruta Fresca”

¡Sí, sí, sí!

Kelly, The Buffet

Do you remember R. Kelly? He’s back, but we’re not sure he should be. You?

***

Nina Simone, “My Baby Just Cares For Me”

Here’s a classic… by a master.

Major Lazer ft. The Partysquad, “Original Don”

Did you know Major Lazer isn’t a single act? The group is a collaboration formed by some of the industry’s biggest names, Diplo, DJ Snake, and MØ, to name a few.

***

Grateful Dead, “Caution Do Not Stop On Tracks”

Turn this one up and let the rolling bass riffs pulse through your core. These gents were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1994… and rightfully so…
