AWOPBAMBOOM – Vol. 41 & 42: Music 4 Music People

***

From Mac to Kaskade, from Romeo to Heads Will Roll, here’s what’s orbiting our musical universe this week.

***

Barack Obama, “Back to Back” (Alphacat Spoof)

Iman Crosson is Alphacat. He’s also Obama’s official doppelgänger. Too bad his run only lasts as long as Obama’s tenure.

***

Mac Miller, GO:OD AM

His 2011 hits, “Donald Trump” and “Party on Fifth Ave,” seemingly ensured that Miller would have a promising future. Well, since then, Mac Miller has released albums Blue Slide Park and Watching Movies with the Sound Off, and both resoundingly disappointed fans. Here’s his latest. Is Mac back on the attack?

Boyce Avenue, “We Found Love” (Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris cover)

This one’s a couple of years old but it’s a great cover by three brothers who show some true talent, Alejandro, Daniel, and Fabian Manzano.

***

Halsey, Badlands

Halsey was featured in AWOPBAMBOOM – Vol. 5 back on January 27th. We said it then and we’ll say it again – this chick is as vocally sound as Lorde. Here’s her latest album.

***

Kaskade, “Atmosphere”

These days it seems Europe breeds the best of techno. Well, Ryan Gary Raddon, AKA Kaskade, has got some American muscle for ya.

***

X Ambassadors, “Renegades”

Little needs to be said about this Billboard top rock jam. Oh, and the vid starts with inspiration from the strongest people around.

***

Gerardo Ortiz, “El Cholo”

Here’s the latest tune from Gerardo Ortiz’s 26-track marathon of an album, Hoy Más Fuerte. This is “El Cholo”:

***

Janet Jackson, “Unbreakable”

Janet’s newest track “Unbreakable” was released on October 2nd as part of an all-new album with the same name.

***

George Strait, “Amarillo by Morning”

With roots buried deep in Texas, and superior live performances such as “Amarillo by Morning” at the Houston Astrodome, there’s no questioning why Strait is the “King of Country.”

***

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, “Heads Will Roll”

While deemed extremely unrealistic, the 2012 flick Project X (a great guilty pleasure) was backed by some great songs, including this one.

***

Romeo Santos, “Propuesta Indecente”

One does not simply get enough of Romeo Santos. Move those hips!

***

Elle King, “Ex’s and Oh’s”

Comedian Rob Schneider and former model London King are the proud parents of singer/songwriter Elle King, a rebellious, free-spirited heartbreaker. With “Ex’s and Oh’s,” King has created one of the catchiest songs of the year. Look for it on many Best-of-2015 lists.

***

Clutch, Earth Rocker

Once you’ve given their 2013 album, Earth Rocker a listen, we suggest you hurry on over to 2015’s Psychic Warfare.
