AWOPBAMBOOM Volume 76 – Select Songs for Fellow Travelers

From flume to yonder mountain to A R I Z O N A, here’s what’s orbiting our musical universe this week.

Yonder Mountain String Band – “Ziggy Stardust” (cover)

A bluegrass tribute to David Bowie. Nice! Shows that spiders can summoned from up north and down south.

Marika Hackman – “Boyfriend”

She’s got your boyfriend on her mind. And the lyrics get worse from there… Your love song’s just been hijacked! Brutal, and unexpected.

Flume – “Heater”

Either you’ll love or hate Flume – it’s experimental electronica that touches a chord… or a nerve.

Give “Heater” a couple of spins and let us know if you experience some warm fuzzies.

A R I Z O N A – “Oceans Away”

Sweet pop’s a guilty pleasure – especially when done right by a New Jersey trio.

Earwig – “Bring Yrself 2 Me”

We don’t know what holds our attention more… Nina West’s shimmy n’ shake, Lizard McGee’s Michael Jackson jacket, or the fab chunky metal riff that permeates the song.

Bring Yrself 2 Me? 4 Sure!

Chick Quest – “Exit Strategy”

And ending this week’s AWOPBAMBOOM, our new friend, Iris Rauh, of Chick Quest, has reminded us that their new album Model View Controller is now out!

We highly recommend this band! Chick Quest is indie fun at its finest!

Check out the band’s new song “Exit Strategy.” As always, Chick Quest delivers…
