Travel Tip – Glamping On The Tibetan Plateau

Looking for an extraordinary trip filled with nature and Tibetan tradition? The Norden Camp, located on the Tibetan Plateau, is the perfect holiday.

At Norden, travelers can experience Tibetan culture and outdoors in style and comfort. The site is situated 20 minutes outside of Labrang, the famous Tibetan monastic town in the Tibetan Autonomous Kenlho Prefecture of Gansu Province, China.

The camp, a winter grazing area for local nomads, is a stunningly beautiful scene that covers 11 hectares, borders a meandering river, and is home to hares and marmots, foxes, gazelles, yaks, and many birds, including pheasants.

The camp is covered in flowering bushes, trees, and a carpet of flowers in summer. From May, the flowering plants and bushes bloom in stages: pink, then yellow and multi-colored flowers that continue to bloom into October.

Norden Travel will customize your experiences according to your interests, while taking advantage of local festivals and all the wonders that each season brings.

About Norden Travel

Norden camp is run and staffed by nomads. The camp itself uses elements of the nomads’ way of life, adding to it the essentials that make  visitors feel comfortable and welcome without compromising the environment.  Most importantly, it offers a platform to enjoy an ecosystem, culture, and way of life in comfort.

Yidam Kyap, a Tibetan nomad who saw the world and returned with the insight and knowledge to share the beauty of his land and heritage, founded Norden Camp.

The success of his concept lies on his and his team’s ability to strike a delicate balance between comfort and cultural and ecological responsibility. Norden is a living example of conscious luxury combined with sustainability and respect for the environment.

The camp site can be reached from the local Labrang Airport, half an hour away, or by four hours by car from Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu, accessible from any major Chinese city.
