QUEENS, NY, September 8, 2016 –
What?!? Favorite Serena Williams (USA) lost tonight to 10-seed Karolina Pliskova (CZE) in the first Semi-Final match of the night.
While Pliskova is on a hot tear, having just won the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, the crowd certainly didn’t see this one coming.
But between Pliskova’s sweet service game — and Williams’ injured left knee – it was lights out for the 1-seed.
Look for Pliskova to face 2-seed Angelique Kerber (GER, below) in the Women’s Singles Final on Saturday.
The Final is guaranteed to be a fun match. Pliskova’s playing well, and Kerber’s out for revenge, having lost to Pliskova in the Finals in Cincinnati, 6-3, 6-1 .
TOMORROW’S MEN’S SEMI-FINAL MATCHES
