US Open Diary – Day 13 Highlights – The Women’s Finals – 2016

QUEENS, NY, September 10, 2016  –

In a rollercoaster of a match, the world’s number one player Angelique Kerber (GER, right) outlasted Karolina Pliskova (CZE, left) to take the Women’s Singles trophy.

Pliskova got off to a slow start, but once she shook off her nerves, she took it to Kerber.

But as the match wore on, Pliskova didn’t have enough in the tank.

Kerber won in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

With Pliskova topping Kerber in Cincinnati — and Kerber coming out ahead today in a three-set squeaker — we have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of these two players.

Can’t wait!
