Wine of the Week: Domaine de la Grangette Saint-Joseph Côtes du Rhône Cuvée des Lauriers

Wine Of The Week…
Domaine de la Grangette Saint-Joseph Côtes du Rhône Cuvée des Lauriers

Maker: Domaine de la Grangette Saint-Joseph
Year: 2009
Region: Vaucluse, France

Red Côte du Rhône’s are generally made up of several grape varities, but per the appellation rules this wine is made up of 100% Grenache. Owned by the Traminer family, this small estate is located near the vineyards of Gigondas and Vacqueyras. A producer who refuses to work with oak barrels, the resulting wine showcases the pure expression of the fruit.

This wine drinks of lush, velvety raspberries, blackcurrants, red plums and morello cherries, with underpinnings of licorice, black pepper, spices and garrigue. It is supple and refined, a delicious anytime wine. Seriously.

So right, it’s Rhône:
