A Great Hamburger: White Manna, Hackensack, NJ
***
Why It’s Great: Legend has it that these type of burgers were served at the 1939 World Fair (as part of a pavilion exhibition). While several White Mannas supposedly exist throughout New Jersey, we’re familiar with the one in Hackensack, NJ. These burgers are beloved – found on many a best list. And they really do hold up to their reputation.
The burgers are of the slider variety – small fresh patties fried on a griddle and served on warm, tiny potato rolls with your choice of cheese, grilled onions, ketchup and/or a side of pickles.
