An Item To Like: The Dawoud Bey Blanket
***
What’s To Like:
We’ve been telling everyone to keep their eye on museum shops. Not only are they great places to go for gifts, but they sell some unique pieces that are nice adds to your home or personal collection.
Case in point is this lust-y, trusty 4′ x 5′ blanket, made in collaboration with the Whitney Museum of American Art; EVERYBODY.WORLD (a sustainable apparel company); and photographer Dawoud Bey.
From the Whitney Shop’s official site:
“To celebrate the exhibition Dawoud Bey: An American Project, on view until October 3, 2021, we have partnered with EVERYBODY.WORLD to create this 100% cotton blanket, featuring West 124th Street and Lenox Avenue, 2016.
“This work was featured in Bey’s Harlem Redux show at Stephen Daiter Gallery, in which he explored and captured the transition that was taking place due to gentrification, and the effects of displacement for a community that was once vibrant and celebrated.”
