About Margo Manhattan:

Margo began making jewelry in the Byzantine technique at 15. She fell in love with the metals and stones and the endless possibilities that inspired her and fueled her creativity.

After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, Margo perfected her knowledge of design in Paris at the Studio Bercot.

Immersing herself in the fashion industry, she landed jobs with Karl Lagerfeld and Patrick Kelly and famed Vogue photographer Arthur Elgort. When her jewelry was discovered in a styling shoot by Patrick Demarchelier, Paris Vogue decided to prominently feature her work.

Thereafter, the business extended the globe, from Paris to Hong Kong. Upon returning Margo set up her production facilities, opened accounts throughout the United States, and was prominently featured in major fashion publications from Vanity Fair to Joyce in Hong Kong.

In the 1990s Margo combined her love of jewelry with her other great passion—philanthropy. This took the form of symbolic, ground-breaking designs: first the Earth Pin for Earth Day (1990) followed by the original Red Ribbon Lapel Pin for AIDS awareness (1991). She then developed the pink ribbon for breast cancer for Estée Lauder’s Breast Cancer Research Foundation and for other breast cancer fund-raising efforts. These ribbons have become icons over the two decades.

Margo opened her flagship boutique on Madison Avenue and 88th street in 2010, where she celebrates the designer’s philosophy of enhancing beauty from the inside out while creating a variety of looks with her signature stylings.

Margo is passionate about meeting the needs of her clients and often works individually with them to create custom pieces, as well as turning their “have beens into must haves.”

Whether customized or custom-made, each piece is uniquely designed to become a treasured collectible.

As Margo says, “The piece finds the person.”
