3. Tell us about your new song “Tomorrow” and why you’d love for us to listen to it.

Tomorrow was the last song I recorded for the album. And it almost didn’t make the cut. So it’s amazing to have it be our first single available everywhere May 7th. I think the label, Mercia Records, and my team agreed that with everything going on in the world right now, Annie’s Tomorrow has a universal message that would set the tone for what The Soul of Broadway album (Coming later this year) is all about. Sometimes it’s those simple anthems of hope from our childhoods that remind us how bright our futures can be.

4. What is your earliest musical memory?

My earliest musical memory is singing at church at the age of 6. From then I’d sing with my cousins in an a cappella group. Then, in choirs at school. Pretty shy then but something was stirring in me to pursue it further.

5. What has been your most embarrassing musical moment?

I had to rap in a musical and I got off and it threw the whole company off. Everyone was laughing including Broadway star Faith Prince. Not necessarily at me but just the fact that we couldn’t get back on track. Pretty humiliating but sobering because we all make mistakes. All I could do was laugh too!

6. What do you like and dislike about touring?

I love hotels lol! I love traveling and meeting new people. I dislike the long drives after landing in a city. I like when others are paying for everything! Tour is stressful when it’s on your dime!  I don’t like being away from family too long. Did I say I like hotels?

7. What is your favorite record store, anywhere in the world?

What’s a record store? Lol I don’t have a favorite, actually haven’t set foot in one since Tower Records closed.

8. Other than your own music, what is your favorite song or album of all-time? Why?

My favorite song which is so hard to have one is Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody.”  Michael Jackson’s Thriller might be the greatest of all time because there will never be another Michael.

9. What is your all-time favorite outfit, when did you wear it and why?

I love this question. Other than my wedding day tux, my all-time favorite is a rose suit I wore when I debuted The Soul of Broadway at The Montalban Theater in Hollywood. I felt like 2 million dollars.

10. Is there anything else that you’d like to add, promote or discuss?

I’m honored to being singing my new song at the closing of The Covenant House virtual gala May 17th and my new podcast Honest Answers with Terron Brooks debuts the following day, 5/18.

I love highlighting the best in people. But I believe to get there we have to be okay with being our authentic honest selves. I was curious about the questions we all as humans ask ourselves. So, I didn’t want the focus of the podcast to be on the guests resume, what they do. I was intrigued by the concept of who the person is. I named it honest answers to encourage the guests to let down their guard and speak their truth. I think coming out of the year we’ve had, people are ready to share what they’ve learned about themselves and the world they have experienced with new eyes. I’m always on the journey of accepting who I am now on the way to where I want to go. Takes honesty to do that. My first guest is my co-star in The Temptations miniseries, LEON. I’m excited about being reunited with him.
