Porlolo is led by Erin Roberts, who may have penned one of the insta-hits of this year.
Her song “Wasting Time” is part country croon, part indie shake. And it’s deliriously effective and ultra-catchy.
Watch here, learn more about Erin below, and keep a look out for Porlolo’s three-song EP Awards, which lands later this week.

1. What is your earliest musical memory?
I remember laying on the floor listening to records on our family’s record player which was in a hutch in our dining room. The tuner would get really warm and had this great smell, kind of a burning dust and hot wires smell. It’s one of the most comforting memories of growing up.

2. What has been your most embarrassing musical moment?
I have no shame at all, and anyone that knows me even a little will corroborate.

3. What do you like and dislike about touring?
I love being in a van with my bandmates, who are the greatest people on earth. I also really like getting in a rhythm of playing every night and the way the set changes from repetition and comfort. I like the space away from my family (I have a two and a four year old), but also feel terrible for the negative impact my touring has on them. I like drinking beers, but hate all of the beer drinking. I like staying up all night and it’s terrible to stay up so late. All of the good things about touring can also be the bummer things.

4. What is your favorite record store, anywhere in the world?
Twist and Shout in Denver! It’s an incredible independent shop with a stand-up owner and very supportive of the local music scene. They have the best employees and awesome in-store performances.

5. Other than your own music, what is your favorite song or album of all-time? Why?
Oh jeez. I’m probably going to disagree with myself in a few minutes, but the first thing that comes to my head is Brute Choir by Palace Music.

6. You wake up in a seedy Berlin hotel room with no recollection of the past 96 hours. Who is your first call?
Gross. Room service? Coffee first, safety second.
