Mercy Us – Six Crucial Questions for Musician Zander Bleck

***

L’Uomo Vogue has called him “one of the most interesting and charismatic new talents.”

Producer RedOne, who discovered him, described his voice as “a mixture of Jim Morrison, Bono, and Freddie Mercury.”

We think singer Zander Bleck is just damn good. He reminds us more of a Michael Hutchens – a crowd-pleasing prowler who feeds off devilishly simple beats. Zander doesn’t release songs as often as we like. But each one just keeps getting better.

Check out Zander’s latest single “Mercy Me” and then learn more about him below.

1. What is your earliest musical memory?

My earliest musical memory is watching my dad play with his band at my house when I was about 3 years old.

***

2. What has been your most embarrassing musical moment?

Early in my career I performed a fashion week show that was just me singing to a backing track.  Instead of a proper sound system, it was a glorified boom box you could hardly hear with me singing on a soap box like nobody was watching.  Was pretty tough.

3. What do you like and dislike about touring?

I am hungry to find what I dislike about touring. Traveling can get exhausting, but I truly love it.

4. What is your favorite record store, anywhere in the world?

I could make something up, but honestly it would be a lie. I’ve yet to start my vinyl collection, so my record store experiences are pretty limited.

5. Other than your own music, what is your favorite song or album of all-time? Why?

I have a pretty diverse taste of music and it’s always hard to name the #1. But I’ll go with “La Femme D’Argent” by Air.
