1. What is your earliest musical memory?

My mom used to listen to all types of music from classical concerts to Manu Chao to Nirvana, etc. It could be anything. I hated that because I was so sensitive to music that it would change my entire mood right away and if it wasn’t the mood I wanted to be in, I would feel gloomy and bad all day… Now I am thankful for it because I can find depth in all kinds of music and get inspiration from any kind of music and appreciate it. Me and my dad used to listen to soul music together, which my mom didn’t like too much. I have always been a jazz fan and she never liked jazz, nor did anyone else around me, haha.

2. What has been your most embarrassing musical moment?

Once I was at a Ryan Leslie concert and he was late so the host asked if anyone in the audience could dance or sing so my friends pushed me on stage and I already had a couple drinks. I sang a little and people liked it. Then the host took out someone else on stage and made it a competition. Turns out this girl had been a finalist on Idols USA. Smh. I’m a good singer but at that point she blew out some Beyonce breath and everyone was convinced, then when the host asked the crowd what they thought of me, everybody boo’d me out. That was pretty horrifying. Luckily it was a long time ago, I think I was 18. I cried all the way home, lol.

5. Other than your own music, what is your favorite song or album of all-time? Why?

India.Arie. Her albums all inspire me. But to name an exact album that I thought was amazing is My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West. That album is such a nice piece with classical influences, great artists and amazing productions.

6. You wake up in a seedy Berlin hotel room with no recollection of the past 96 hours. Who is your first call?

Maaan, I guess my mom or my brother. Then they’d ask what I’m doing there and I’d be freaking out with anxiety. Then I’d probably try to find some weed and explore the area.
