New Music – Six Crucial Questions for Eliza & the Delusionals

***

A dreamy song has shot up the alt-rock charts and landed in the top slot over at SiriusXM’s Alt-Nation.

The track’s called “Just Exist” – and it’s the biggest hit for Eliza & the Delusionals, an Australian band enjoying their time in the sun.

It’s a sneaky tune, right? Starts with a delightful trickle and builds to an explosive geyser spray.

We hope that the band continues on their journey of upwards and onwards. For now, they’re headed in the right direction. Starting this February, Eliza & the Delusionals will open for the Silversun Pickups during the West Coast leg of the Pickups’ 2020 U.S. tour.

Get to know the band and their lead singer, Eliza, below.

1. What is your earliest musical memory?

I have two. I remember being on school camp and mum giving me a music player for the trip. She had pretty much put Coldplay’s entire discog on there at the time, and I think that was the first band I fell in love with. A few months after, she bought me tickets to their concert for my birthday and I remember watching and deciding that that was what I wanted to do when I grew up.

2. What has been your most embarrassing musical moment?

When I was 12 or 13 I used to go in a lot of local karaoke contests. I bet if I looked back on those I’d die of embarrassment.

3. What do you like and dislike about touring?

I love the shows, seeing new places and meeting people all around the country. I think the worst thing is some of the gross hotels we stay in and I also miss my dog.

4. What is your favorite record store, anywhere in the world?

Rare Groove on the Gold Coast is a good one that’s close to home. I also love Big Love Records in Harajuku, Japan. Every time I go there I buy as much vinyl from the band The Garden. They always have everything they’ve done there.

5. Other than your own music, what is your favorite song or album of all-time? Why?

It’s so hard to narrow it down to one… I’d have to say Catfish and the Bottlemen – The Balcony. I actually have the artwork tattooed on my arm.

6. You wake up in a seedy Berlin hotel room with no recollection of the past 96 hours. Who is your first call?

Probably my boyfriend, or my mum–haha.
