The Times Square Edition Hotel, New York
Like the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, entry to the EDITION is off the street straight into an elevator upstairs with the Paradise Club on the 7th floor, Terrace at EDITION on nine, Hotel Reception on ten, fine dining restaurant 701WEST plus bar on eleven, and hotel room floors above.
Ian Schrager of Studio 54 fame went to town on the Paradise Club, and the Terrace at EDITION has walls decked with photographs of the City and its denizens, and the bar has a wall of decanters very fetchingly arranged. There is also an outside terrace (hence the name) which will be super-prime real estate come New Year’s Eve as the corner looks directly onto where the Times Square ball drop occurs. One of the signature drinks is the death trap cocktail, which includes cognac and bergamot (think Earl Grey tea). Menu wise, the selection is wide, with something for everyone. The seafood tower is very tasty, comprising shrimp, mussels, and oysters, with an upper tier of fresh crudités.

Hotel Aspen, CO
The Hotel Aspen is a great choice for accommodation when visiting Aspen with any kind of budget, due to it possessing the magic word – location. The Hotel Aspen is about a five-minute walk from the Jerome Hotel, which is great for breakfast or an afternoon drink at their new speakeasy, Bad Harriet. The hotel is located just 10 minutes from the center of town and nearer 15 minutes (esp. with ski boots on) from the Ajax Mountain ski-lifts. With ski season at an end, carrying that mountain bike, golf clubs, or hiking gear to the bus is so much easier to bear.
About 50 feet away is the bus stop to the Snowmass and Highlands Resorts. A similar distance away is the bus stop for Buttermilk. The rooms are traditional and cozy, and some have a cute stove in the corner.
