A REVIEW

After enjoying our fair share of movies, we kind of think there are only two types of detectives in California – either professional and hard-edged (e.g., Jack Nicholson in Chinatown) or amateur and shambolic (e.g., Jeff Bridges in The Big Lebowski).

Under the Silver Lake gives us the second type of sleuth – with Andrew Garfield playing a 30-something slacker who becomes entangled in an entertaining (and sometimes irritating) Los Angeles mystery.

We’re not sure if you’re going to love or hate this two-hour-and-twenty-minute film.

Heck, we’re torn about it.

But the movie has its moments…  and is worth a watch… once, if not twice.
