Wine of the Week: Pares Balta Blanc de Pacs

Wine: Pares Balta Blanc de Pacs
Maker: Pares Balta
Year: 2011
Region: Penedes, Spain

It’s lemon curd and zest, Johnny Apple and lifted notes of honeysuckle and minerality that result in a wine too elegant to actually be considered ‘porch wine’ but so easy to drink it would be understandably mistaken for such – and would not be a tragedy since it’s only 11.5% alcohol.  It’s a perfect wine for hot days (which still seem to persist in many parts of the world), a great alternative to the usual suspects, but also a great way to start.  In other words, light and refreshing Spanish deliciousness that is definitely worth keeping in the fridge.

Some inspiring stuff.
